Labor and employment law compliance issues can cause significant business disruption and liability. We guide you through compliance to ensure your business thrives in today’s competitive market. We provide legal advice, design your polices and handbooks, handle employment claims, and conduct training and self-audits to prevent claims. We also conduct workplace investigations and perform training for managers, supervisors and employees to help you make the best, most informed employment decisions without fear of facing liability.
We specialize in providing Outside Employment General Counsel services.
What is an Outside Employment General Counsel?
An “Outside Employment General Counsel” (OEGC) is an employment lawyer who provides the same services an in-house employment lawyer provides. Instead of being employed by your company, the OEGC provides services through a law firm.
When should your company use OEGC services instead of traditional law firm services?
Some companies do not have a need (or budget) for a full-time in-house employment counsel. However, the need for frequent consultations is enough that it would be too expensive to hire an adequate law firm to provide these services on an hourly basis. We discovered this gap and worked on a solution that better meets the day-to-day employment needs of our clients on a flat rate basis. OEGC flat rate services typically include all day-to-day in-house employment counsel services including advice, policy review, and claims management. Most OEGC services do not include court litigation, as most employment claims rarely, if ever, end up in court and including court litigation would result in a higher flat rate for a service that may never be used. However, they may include handling administrative claims before the EEOC and other administrative agencies, as well as managing court litigation being handled by outside litigation firms. Because OEGC's do not typically handle court litigation, their efforts are focused on early resolution of disputes which may result in significant savings to their company clients.
Our approach to OEGC services:
In our research, we found that some law firms have begun to offer OEGC services on a flat rate basis, but most assign attorneys with limited experience, or who have not worked in-house. Our clients prefer us because our OECG lawyers are not only experts in employment law but have over 50 years of combined experience as in-house counsel with Fortune 100 companies, as well as small and medium size companies. This means that our OEGC’s have most likely experienced and resolved issues and challenges with other clients that are similar to those your own company may be facing, regardless of your company size. Most large firms do not provide services to small-medium size companies due to cost. With our OEGC services, you get the benefits of an expert attorney with years of extensive and broad legal and business experience, even if your company is in its early days. We save our clients money and time by providing more practical, business oriented, answers and avoid the costs of litigation.
We know that one size does not fit all. We custom tailor our OEGC services to fit your company’s needs. We additionally provide services on a per project, hourly or flat rate basis, for companies that only need help on a particular project.
Our OEGC services may be customized to include any of the following:
We can also provide Domestic and International Data Privacy services including:
