Jorge A.
Colón focuses his practice on technology law,
domestic and international media/entertainment law,
international private law and general corporate
practice (including mergers and acquisitions)
Previously, Jorge was Senior Media Counsel at NBC
Universal and Telemundo, including NBC Network News
and Sports, Dateline and NBC stations, WTVJ Miami and
KXAS Dallas. He was also head media counsel for the
Telemundo Network, including Telemundo News and
Sports, Telemundo on Yahoo, and Telemundo Stations
Group (15 stations nationwide). Whilst at NBC
Universal, Jorge authored and co-authored several
articles, chapters of books and legal training tools
for the MLRC, the media lawyer's international
organization. Mr. Colón was also frequently asked to
participate in several media law Panels and as
Visiting Faculty at the Poynter Institute.
Previous to his position at NBC Universal, Mr. Colón
was American Media, Inc.’s Corporate and Trademark
Counsel, supervising AMI's subsidiaries and their
over 2,000 trademarks worldwide. Mr. Colón was also
responsible for reviewing the companies’ published
content for libel issues and use of intellectual
property. The publications included amongst others,
The National Enquirer, Star Magazine, Globe, MIRA!,
The Sun, Country Music, Globe Mini-Mags, and all of
Weider’s publications, including Men’s Fitness,
Muscle and Fitness, Flex, and Shape.
Mr. Colón is a graduate of Georgetown University Law
Center, and a former judicial law clerk to Federal
Chief Judge Gierbolini, United States District
Court.
