Jorge A. Colón focuses his practice on technology
law, domestic and international media/entertainment
law, international private law and general corporate
practice (including mergers and acquisitions)
Previously, Jorge was Senior Media Counsel at NBC
Universal and Telemundo, including NBC Network News
and Sports, Dateline and NBC stations, WTVJ Miami and
KXAS Dallas. He was also head media counsel for the
Telemundo Network, including Telemundo News and
Sports, Telemundo on Yahoo, and Telemundo Stations
Group, with 15 O&O stations nationwide. Whilst at
NBC Universal,
Jorge advised, negotiated and handled all legal,
contractual and regulatory matters related to
television news and sports, advertising and
distribution, entertainment and music, including news
and sports content distribution on broadcast, cable,
internet and mobile. In addition, Jorge negotiated
strategic alliances for news content access (cable
and broadcast) in Latin America.
Previous to his position at NBC Universal, Mr. Colón
was American Media, Inc.’s Corporate and Trademark
Counsel, supervising AMI's subsidiaries and over
2,000 trademarks worldwide. Mr. Colón was part of the
company's early acquisition team, and was also
responsible for reviewing the published content and
use of intellectual property. The publications
included amongst others, The National Enquirer, Star
Magazine, Globe, MIRA!, The Sun, Country Music, Globe
Mini-Mags, and all of Weider’s publications,
including Men’s Fitness, Muscle and Fitness, Flex,
and Shape.
Mr. Colón is a graduate of Georgetown University Law
Center, and a former judicial law clerk to Federal
Chief Judge Gierbolini, United States District
